How do I start recording?
Choose your recording mode (Screen + Webcam, Screen Only, or Webcam Only), then click the play button. Make sure to grant camera and microphone permissions when prompted.
What's the difference between recording modes?
Screen + Webcam uses canvas compositing to overlay your camera on screen capture. Screen Only captures just your screen with microphone audio. Webcam Only records just your camera feed.
How do I customize the webcam overlay?
In Screen + Webcam mode, you can adjust the webcam size (small/medium/large) and position (4 corners) in the recording controls before starting.
What video formats are supported?
Recordings are saved in WebM format with VP9 codec for optimal compression and quality. This format is supported by all modern browsers and most video players.
Can I pause and resume recordings?
Yes! Use the pause button during recording to take breaks. Click resume to continue recording. The final video will be seamless without any pause indicators.
How do I record system audio?
When using Screen Only or Screen + Webcam mode, browser will ask if you want to share system audio along with your screen. Select 'Share audio' for full system sound capture.
Why isn't my webcam overlay showing?
Make sure you've granted camera permissions and selected Screen + Webcam mode. The overlay preview appears in the video preview area before recording starts.
How do I improve recording quality?
Use 1080p or 4K quality settings, ensure good lighting for webcam recording, and use a quality microphone. Close unnecessary applications to free up system resources.
Where are my recordings saved?
Recordings are processed locally in your browser and downloaded directly to your device. No files are uploaded to our servers unless you enable cloud storage options.
Can I record with multiple people?
Collaborative recording with multiple participants is coming soon! Currently, you can use the podcast room feature for basic multi-user sessions.
What browsers are supported?
Screen Record Online works best in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. All features require a modern browser with WebRTC support for camera and screen access.
How large can my recordings be?
Recording size depends on quality settings and duration. VP9 compression keeps file sizes reasonable. Typical 1080p recordings are 50-100MB per minute.
